For those who are studying in Taman Kosas Secondary School, you will definitely understand how terrible the students’ discipline is especially if you are a prefect. This is a common image and perspective on how the society thinks when they heard the name S.M.K.T.K. I do not mean to oppose and protest their thoughts because ironically, I think the same way as well. However, my foul and harsh image of my school doesn’t end there. May be you will have an opinion that the image and prestige of the school was only tarnished because of the students’ incorrigible bad behaviour and satanic attitude. Actually, you are only half correct. The members of the disciplinary board may not be as innocent and well-mannered as you think. They are not that responsible as well. All those smart looking prefects wearing blue shirts, ties, long pants and polished black leather shoes are just a good impression for the visitors from outsiders and the disciplinary teacher to look. The reason they do this is because they want to look cool and smart in front of their friends. All those actions of shouting, ordering, catching students and running about throughout the school often do not last long. There actions are only a good impression intended for a promotion or a temporary zest when they were just been elected as a prefect. After a certain time, these zests will ware off and in return, they will start to feel bored and ignore their duties as well as their responsibilities. They tend to run away from any duty which requires their service and pretend to be unaware of the students’ disciplinary problems. This can be proven by the incident that pissed me off. In fact, it even ruined my mood to give the complementing and thankful speech for the prefects for the gathering which will be held the next day. I was ashamed of our disciplinary board. Those who are elected as prefects should have an outstanding quality in their attitude and have a matured mind as well. Those imbeciles should not be invited to the gathering because they do not deserve the appreciation. Let me tell you about the incident that pissed me off. Last Friday, when recess had ended for about 10 minutes, there were a still a group scumbags who are still loitering and chatting in the canteen. Ironically, there are more than a dozen of prefects in the canteen including the prefects’ Form 5 AJKs who are supposed to assist and usher the first move to order those scumbags to return to their respective classes. Feeling odd, I asked my group leader what to do with those scumbags. He replied me with such a sarcastic manner that I was so shocked. He said that I don’t need to care them since I am outnumbered by those 5 scumbags. He told me to let them do whatever they want. How preposterous and outrageous was that!!! Is he blind or damn stupid!!! Has he forgotten that our school has rules and regulations that everyone is obliged to follow without any exceptions!!! If anyone can break the rules just because they are in a group of many people, what are the rules for anyway? What is the use of electing more than 70 prefects if we are still outnumbered and powerless against just a group of 5 scumbags? With a little anger and dissatisfied with the answer I got, I asked our head of discipline about the same thing too. When I asked him that, he also said that I don’t need to care about them. At the same time, he was chatting with his friends who are also normal students. Finally, I gave up asking those fools and went to order those scumbags myself. As predicted, they refused to listen and resist my orders. They even said that even the discipline

teachers do not care, why should I care and it is their wish if they do not want to enter the class
(suka hati aku la, mampus kau la). They dared to say that because both our disciplinary teacher are on leave. Feeling really angry with that I raised my voice and repeated my order again and said that recess had long ended and it is outrageous for them to not enter their class. However, those errant scumbags were still reluctant to listen to my orders. One of them even went to my back quietly and hit me on the back of my head. Finally, our head-of-discipline came to help. Don’t misunderstand because the aid was not for me but for his scumbag friends. He just told me to leave to prevent any fight. The other dozen of prefects just looked at the show and continued eating their nasi lemak!!!!! Their response towards that incident as if nothing had happened made me angrier. This kind of incident happens everyday. Every time recess is over, only a few of my friends and I will do the job of ordering the students to go back the class while the others will start to enjoy their meal. It is as though there were no prefects who are on duty in the canteen because rubbish and plates were everywhere. Unfortunately, the absence of our disciplinary teacher enabled those scumbags to escape without any punishments. Is this the attitude of a prefect should have? Was the election of more than 70 prefects a waste? If they are not willing to take up the responsibilty, they should just resign instead of burdening the disciplinary board. Those errant scumbags are not afraid of breaking the rules because majority of the prefects are cowards who were not even brave enough to look at them. Consequently, the scumbags think that they are the emperors of the world in our school.
