Exam? What's That? *Updated 2

Since I haven't been blogging for such a long time, I'll write a short post today. Today, I went to KLCC to check out the last day of PC Fair while everyone was cramming on their study notes. I know....I know... I should be studying too. I did this because I have a good reason behind it. I went there because I wanted to :

  1. Enquire something about Streamyx

  2. Compare other handphone service providers

  3. Check out any worthwhile bargains for PC accessories

  4. Watch the hot PC Fair promoters

  5. Buy birthday presents for Jian Shi, Xinzi and Yan Siong.

After 3 hours of walking around KLCC, I ended up RM196.35 poorer. Here's what I bought:

A new Glaser mouse

Two cartridges of ink. Apparently, there were good bargains for original HP inks during the PC fair. My ink which normally cost RM60 only cost RM40 for the black cartridge and RM53 for the tri-colour cartridge. Apart from having a good discount, they were giving out free HP stationary sets for each cartridge of ink you purchased.

The stationary sets contain: a stapler, a box of staples,a cellophane tape set, an eraser, a pen and a cute mini bag to store your HP stationary sets. A pretty good bargain wouldn't you say.

I also bought a multi card reader.

A 2GB micro sd card for Jian Shi's birthday present

A pencil case for Xinzi's birthday

And a handphone bag for Yan Siong's birthday.

Hehehe..... Don't worry. I will reveal the pictures when the time comes. For the time being, those presents remain confidential.

However, here are some clues for you to guess what I bought for them.

For Jian Shi's present. You can find the clue in this blog if you read and examine this short post meticulously.

As for Xinzi and Yan Siong's present, here's a picture clue for you to guess the presents.

Another clue for you. They are used to store things.

For those who do not know, Jian Shi and Xinzi's birthday are on the 11th and 12th of Dec. So coincident wouldn't you say?

.....

Yeah right! Don't worry I'm not dy***.

It's just that everyday for the past few weeks we have been hearing a lot about a new pandemic that has been front page news for many occasions. This pandemic is even more notorious than the Al-Qaeda which has been terrosing the Middle East. This pandemic has plagued the world, killed thousands of people, shut down schools, and causing fear and distraught for millions of people around the world. That's right. It's is the new Swine Flu aka H1N1.

So far, it has claimed 70 lives in Malaysia and succeded in infecting more than 500 people a day. The government and many schools as well as colleges have taken pre-emptive measures in an attempt to curb the disease from spreading. However, I fear that everything is too late; now that more than a thousand people have been infected. All this happen because of the government's acuh tak acuh attitude.

Even one of the students in our college has been infected by H1N1. Rumours has it that the student was very ill and passed away according to Xinzi. All students with flu-like symptoms were also told not to come to college and anyone caught having these symptoms will be asked to leave. Apparently, I was one of those who asked to leave the college. Today, I woke up with a strange feeling in my throat which later developed to a minor cough. Thinking that it was probably due to lack of water, I proceeded to go to college. Later in the evening, I started to feel a strange sensation. It was like a deja vu that I have felt before. I felt like I'm going to be sick. Later during our break, I started to develop a minor fever. I started to feel a little hot and cold at the same time. When I told Jian Shi about my condition, it scared the hell out of him. Then, I proceeded to tell Miss Jamela about my condition and I happily went home at 7.30p.m.

Now that I'm happily blogging in the comfort of my home, I started to feel a little better. I don't think it's something serious as I feel very alert and my fever isn't very high. Here are 2 pictures of me. Try to compare. Can you spot the difference?

Before:

Now

Not much difference leh. Hopefully, I could recover before Thursday because I want to go to the book festival at KLCC. Well, going there sounds like suicide to me at first since H1N1 is so prevalent now but I'm willing to take my chances. Ok, now to finish my supper which I have cooked myself. Guess what I cooked?

Maggi mee!!!

LOL! What do you expect a bachelor like my able to cook? Well, the picture doesn't do any justice to the bowl of maggi mee. It was much better looking before and tasted really good as I have put a lot of ingredients in it. I just forgot to take the picture earlier. After finishing my maggi mee, I have this waiting for me. My own concotion of vitamin C and antioxidants to help strengthen my immune system.

Ok, Time to get my beauty sleep after this. See you soon! : )

A Confession of A Shopaholic Part 2

Continued from the previous post.....

After having a scrumptious meal at The Manhattan Fish Market, I went to survey what other items that are also offered at marked down prices. Along the way, I stopped by to watch the exhibition for the new release of Iphone 3GS that are being held. They are offering passer-bys to try out the new iphones. Looking at all those Iphones, I was so tempted to try one myself. Being a person with an average income of less than RM 1K however, it feels as though I'm not qualified to even see the Iphones. ~sigh~... Moving on.

Well, my main intention was not to look at the Iphones. I was planning to visit the store that is near the Iphone exhibition which is this:

Apart from food, I'm also a fan of watches. I have been aspiring to get my hands on a swatch for a long time. Here are some of the watches I have want so badly all this while.

Heracles

Cold Hour

Quaterman

After scouting the price of the watches and asking the promoter on duty, I was quite disappointed as there were no discounts offered for the watches. Looks like I have to delay my intention of buying a watch for a while. So, I walked away and continued my shopping spree for clothes.

After further scouting, I decided to shop at ISETAN as they have more choices and discount on clothes. Here are some of the clothes I bought.

A Croc Creek T-shirt

Original Price:

After discount only RM35.70

A black Emillio Valentino T-Shirt

Original Price:

After discount only RM49.50

A white slack

Original Price:

After discount only RM38.97

After shopping for the clothes, I still RM34.80 left in my budget. I still feel something is missing from this trip. Hmm... what is it?

......

.....

......

Well, of course. Books!!! How can I go home without visiting Kinokuniya? After looking around trying to find the book I wanted, I was stopped by a title that felt so nostalgic.

Slumdog Millionaire

What is the price?

RM34.80!!! Just the amount of budget I have left!!!! LOL So coincidence!

After flipping through a few pages, I decided to buy it. I knew that the Popular Book Festival is coming soon but I just can't resist to buy this book. It was love at first read. The book has a twist that is completely different from the movie.

At the payment counter, I decided to try something bold. For the first time, I paid via Visa using my new debit card and it worked! I was so excited in trying out my new visa debit card that I almost left without taking my book after paying. The cashier hasto remind me to my book along with me. Another customer who was at the scene also laughed when she saw the incident. Alamak, so embarassing.....

At the end of my shopping spree, this is all I had left.

Initial Budget........... RM200

- Lunch......................RM41.05

-Clothes.....................RM124.15

-Book.........................RM34.80

Remaining budget....RM0

LOL!!! I really used up all my budget!!!! No more. No less.

Well, that's my shopping experience during my semester break. Time to earn back the money I used.

See you next time.

A Confession of A Shopaholic Part 1...

Last Thursday, I finally embarked on my shopping spree at Suria KLCC. Being the last day of the semester break and the last month of the Malaysia Mega Sales Carnival, I can't possibly miss out on the chance to splurge on new branded clothes. It's the perfect time to buy new clothes. Imagine all branded clothes that are usually priced more than hundreds of ringgits are marked down by 40%, 50% and even 70% of their normal price! The thought of wearing new clothes and enjoying a decent meal in a restaurant excites me that I told myself I must not miss out this year's mega sale or I'll regret it. After all, this is probably the only time in my life where I have the time to enjoy myself. After I graduate from college next year, I would probably be working my ass off. And besides, I have been wearing the same clothes for 4 years now. Yup, you heard me right. The last time I have new clothes to wear was when I was in form 3. I didn't care much because I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth. However, now that I'm working and saving a lot, I think I deserve some new clothes.

After pondering on where to shop for good clothes, I decided to go to Suria KLCC. After all, it's just a 20 minute bus ride from my house and it has all the branded clothes I'll need. I embarked on my shopping spree at around 12.30p.m.
My budget: RM200.

If I ran out of money.....

I still have my trusty new Visa debit card

As soon I arrived, I scouted every corners in Suria KLCC to find the best bargains for clothes that are within my budget. I don't want to end up paying >RM 300 for a piece of T-shirt.

Therefore, after scouting for about half an hour, I've decided to try my luck at the following shops:

ISETAN

Parkson

Marks and Spencer

Well, before I sprint to their fitting rooms to try on the clothes, my tummy was starting to grumble. It's already 1.30 p.m. and I haven't eaten my lunch. Therefore, time to search for a good restaurant. Being a food enthusiast myself, I read a lot of of "flogs" when I surf the internet. Flog = Food blogs

Therefore, I have already decided on where I wanted to eat before I went to Suria KLCC.

The Manhattan Fish Market.

Here's a tip, when you want to have lunch at KLCC, it's better to wait after lunch hour to avoid congestion. Have your lunch around after 1.30p.m.

After being greeted and seated by the waiter standing in front, I continued to select from the variety of food in the menu. After looking at the menu, I decided to have as Fried Country Mushroom as my appetizer.

Being a fan of mushrooms, I can't say no to this.

The fried mushrooms also come with 3 sauces for you to dip in. From the left is mayonnaise, sweet and sour chilli sauce and garlic.

When the plate of mushrooms arrived, I was a little sceptical on the taste. They looked like balls of cornflour with nothing else.

However,

One bite on the mushrooms was heavenly. The skin of the fried mushrooms was crunchy and fluffy while inside of the fried mushrooms were really MUSHROOMS!!! (Sorry for the blur image)

As my main course, I chose The Grilled Catch of The Day which was Norweign Fish on that day.

The dish arrived with a big fish fillet with lots of french fries, a slice of lemon and a slice of tomato. The big fish fillet was nicely baked with butter sauce and herbs.

The fish fillet was nicely done and not overcooked. The meat was smooth and sweet with a hint of butter and spices. Being a fan of fish, I really don't mind finishing this big fish fillet on my own. In fact, I'm glad it came in this big portion compared to the overpriced fine dining restaurants.

The word big is already an understatement. The meal was so enourmous that I find it hard to finish.

The total damage :

Orange Juice = RM6.90
Fried Country Mushroom = RM9.90

Grill Catch of The Day = RM18.90

Service Charge (10%) = RM 3.57

Tax = RM 1.79
__________________________
Grand total = RM41.05

It may look expensive but it's definitely worth the price considering it's good service and good food. For more details, click here http://www.suriaklcc.com.my/index.php?module=ShoppingDetails&_prod_id=296

Will be continued....

My Results Are Out!!!

I've just came back from shopping. A bit tired. Will be updating about it soon. I think.

Here's a short post about my recent semester result.

: ) I passed with flying colours. Well, not all the subjects with flying colours though. But I'm still relieved for getting such a good result. Being a 100% scholarship holder has its own pressure. I need to maintain a GPA of more than 3.2 for all the semester. Before this, I was so afraid that I wouldn't make it.

Wohoo!!! Still in Dean's List but my CGPA dropped a little from 3.84 to 3.79. Better work harder to redeem that lost CGPA next semester.

Guan Yin Dan

Last Sunday was Guan Yin Dan. As a half Buddhist and half free-thinker, I also particpated on that day's event. Actually, I'm not very sure what Guan Yin Dan means. I only know that it is related to the goddess of Guan Yin. My family and I started our day by the usual ritual we perform almost every year. Burn joss sticks, burn "holy" papers, listen to Buddha chants and eating vegetarian food for a day.

After eating our breakfast and burning all the things we need to burn, dad and I went to "Tin Hao Gong" which is a big temple located on a hill at Brickfields. It's just a few kilometres from college. We went there at around 2p.m. so the place isn't that crowded. Most people have already gave their offerings and went home.

Here's some pictures of how the temple looks like.

Me with the "God of Love". Hey, where's my name?

The garden of Zodiacs

Me and my zodiac animal.

Let's see what kind of person I am:

Hehe, not bad leh. ~Sigh~ but why still no GF....

Dad and his zodiac animal.

The monkey

The fierce tiger

Here's some pictures in the temple.

A giant statue of errr..... I also don't know who she is. I just offered my prayers.

A giant statue of Guan Yin

After offering our prayers, I decided to have a little fun. For the first time, I went to "kao cim" to take a peek at what my "future" would be like. Am I going to be a millionaire? Marry a beautiful woman? Be the next prime minister of Malaysia? Open up my own "Wai Khoon's Reader Programme"?

Basically, "kao cim" is something like menilik nasib whereby your future is determined by a pile of wooden sticks which are numbered instead of a crystal ball. Pick up the pile of wooden sticks and make sure that they are of the same level. Then, you drop them back in the container and pick the highest stick. Then, you take a piece of paper from the boxes according to the number on you stick. By the way, you need to donate some money into the container next to you before you "kao cim". I donated RM2.

A lady taking her paper.

Let's see what my future has installed for me.

= =! This is in chinese. I can't read this.

Phew, luckily an English translation is available at the back.

Why me!!! What have I done wrong in my past life to deserve this!!!

~sob~sob~

Am I obstinate and conceited? Am I that stubborn? Am I doomed to be poor and single for the rest of my life? Nooooo!!!!!!! I refuse to believe that our life has been pre-destined since we are born. I believe that we can shape our own future if we are willing to work hard for it!

And if you ask me, I don't think I'm that kind of a person or am I? People say that we cannot judge ourselves accurately because we often can't see our mistakes. So, what do you think?

Conclusion: I say let's not allow this superstitious belief cloud our mind and soul!!! Instead, let's work hard for our future!!!

GAMBATEH!!!
