You Beast!!!
BBQ Party At Lychee's House
We did the BBQ just like what we did during the previous years. All of us contributed something to the BBQ. Lychee bought the chicken wings, Liew bought some bacon and sparkling juice, Meng bought more sparkling juice, Calvin bought hot dogs, pork balls and chocolates while I bought black seedless grapes.
Hey, who curi makan!!! Why so few left in the end.
We arrived at Lychee’s house at around 7 p.m.. Unfortunately, we just realised that we were out of “huo zhong” (the thing you use to light up charcoal). With no “huo zhong”, we tried using newspaper as an alternative to light up the charcoals but to no avail. The newspaper won’t burn long enough to light up the charcoal. Even if we shrivel them up, the flame isn’t big enough to light up the charcoal. Then, Liew suggested we burn the charcoals using the gas stove at the kitchen until they are lighted up. However, that will consume a lot of cooking gas. Then, Lychee’s dad brought some candles as a substitute for the huo zhong. ~Sigh~. Why didn’t we think of that sooner? Well, the candles worked perfectly and we successfully lighted up the charcoals. It’s not easy task to light up the charcoal. After the charcoal started to burn, we still need to fan the charcoals to provide sufficient oxygen for the charcoals to continue burning. Otherwise, the fire will be extinguished after some time and all our efforts would have been wasted. We took turns to fan the charcoals.
Ooo, fire spirits. Heed my calls. I, Calvin, command thee to rise.
After the charcoal started to burn immensely, we started our barbeque. We started off with the chicken wings as they need more time on the fire before they are edible. The BBQ is self-serviced. That means if you want food, barbeque it yourself. Then, we put Liew’s bacon on the fire. Yum Yum. The bacon tasted really good. It’s one of my favourite foods too. After that were the hot dogs and pork balls. Then, we settled down and chatted while enjoying the grapes that I bought. We talked about many random topics. Then, Liew recommended we fry some eggs on the plate if we were still hungry. Lye agreed and wanted to tried it. However, as we know, eggs will stick on the plate if you fry it without putting some oil on the plate. So, he only fried it until it is half-cooked. That means the yolk is still liquid. Liew told Lychee that the half-cooked yolk is good stuff and insisted Lychee to suck it but Lychee can’t stop himself from feeling disgusted by the yolk. Hey, even I dislike half-cooked eggs. What happened next really made us laugh until our stomach hurts. Liew told Lychee that if he doesn’t want to eat it, he will. Then, Lychee told Liew that he’ll eat it on one condition. He proposed that Liew sucked half of the yolk and he sucks the remaining half. In Chinese: “Ni si ei dien, wo si ei dien” Hearing that not only made our hair stood up but we also felt so disgusted. Oooo man, it was so disgusting to hear that. Liew immediately gave back the egg to Lychee after hearing that. At 10 p.m., we packed and cleaned up the place.
Trying to barbeque the bacons.
Emmm, smells good.
Removing the bacon.
Perfectly barbequed.
Emm.. emmm, give me more...I want more....Must have more....
Lychee!!! Calm down! Suicide won't solve your problem.
She loves me. She love me not. She loves me. She loves me not.....
Yuck. Something Lye's dad prepared.
No.1 wanted criminal drinking coffee in jail.
Leftovers.
I can hear the full moon calling out to me. Aaawuuuuu....
The grand finale.

Unfortunately my dad is currently unemployed and he hasn't found a new job yet. So, money is a factor that I have to consider when planning my activities. Currently, my 10th option which is learn to drive has been cancelled due to financial problems. At first, I planned to learn to drive now since this is probably the longest free time I will ever have. Now, I might also need to cancel my plans to learn to swim depending on the fees. ~Sigh~, sometimes I wished that I was born with a silver spoon in my mouth. (That means have inherited wealth since born). If only I'm rich and have lots of money. I could have learnt so many thing and do so many stuff. However, I might grow up as a spoiled spend thrift in the end. Could anyone suggest some good ideas on what I can do during the holidays? Or even better, donate some money to me. :p
The Day Before The Battle
This is what I dreamt on the day before I sat for the EST paper:
Nightmare 1

I dreamt that I went to my aunt’s house to have lunch together with other relatives. It was supposed to be like a reunion dinner where all of our relatives came and eat together at one big round table. In that dream, I was so clumsy that I kept being scolded by my aunts. When I helped to prepare the lunch by bringing out the dishes, I dropped the vegetables on the floor. When we ate lunch together, I dropped rice everywhere on the table and the floor like a 5 year old child eating his rice. I got bombarded by my aunts so badly. It was so embarrassing and scary.
Lovely dream 2

After the eating the lunch in the first dream, I washed the plates and the cutleries at the kitchen. Then, all of the sudden, Pei Wen just popped out of nowhere into the kitchen. I was shocked too. Then, I felt this urge in me to tell her how I felt towards her. I felt that as though it was the perfect opportunity to express my feelings towards her. I had totally forgotten what happened earlier in the first dream. I immediately grabbed her hand and told her how much I like her. It was really a wonderful dream. Guess what happened next. She accepted my feelings and agreed to be my girlfriend. As soon as that happened, every thing started to fade away and I woke up after that. When I woke up, I was so disappointed and angry. DAMN IT!!! WHY THE GOOD DREAMS HAVE TO BE SO SHORT WHILE THE NIGHTMARES HAVE TO BE SO LONG!!! I wished that that second dream could be longer. At that time, I really wished that I could experience what it is like to be her boyfriend in my dreams even though I know I can’t do it in reality.
Hilarious dream 3

After the 2nd dream, I went back to sleep as it was only 4 a.m. In my 3rd dream, I dreamt about my 1st day of Form 6. It was early in the morning and I got ready to go to my new school at SMK Taman Tasek. When I arrived at the school, I realised that I went to the wrong school. I went back to my old school at SMK Taman Kosas. Then, I borrowed a few ringgits from my friends and ran out to hail a taxi. I told the taxi to drive me to SMK Taman Tasek. For your information, I watched the news on television on the latest tactics used by some taxi drivers to con tourists before I went to bed. After a sitting in the taxi for a while, I noticed something is wrong with fare metre. The amount of fare rose so quickly that when we stopped at a junction just as the traffic light turned red. In a few seconds, the digits on the fare changed so fast that the fare had summed up to more than RM400. I was so shocked and thought to myself that something is wrong with the metre. Then, I realised that the taxi driver was holding a wire on his right hand and was flickering the wire against a piece of metal which is connected to the fare metre. Realising I was being conned; I immediately alighted from the taxi and ran towards Kah Meng’s house which was surprisingly near that time. When I reached his house, I asked his help as I was late for my first day of registration at my new school. Then, Kah Meng and his mother agreed to help me. They decided to disguise as my parent in order to help me. Then, they took out a book and started to practise to speak in a British accent so that they would appear as noble people. It was really a funny dream. They practised the usual dialogues that you would usually hear in a comedy show on television like “Ooo, how do you do madam principal? Today is a fine day isn’t it? How about a cup of tea?” After listening to them practising their British accent for a while, I woke up, and realised that it was already 8 a.m. and the sun was shining in the sky.
The dreams were so weird that I would laugh whenever I try to visualise the dreams. I hope that I can have the second dream again.

World War 3
Most of them will try to redeem the time they have lost by going to numerous seminars to get forecast on what type of questions would be asked in the SPM examinations. These peoples would then study hard for the chapters which the fortune-tellers from their tuition centres have told them to read. To my surprise, they even have forecast on what kind essays would be asked in the examination too. Some students who are trying to do some last-minute revision would even go as far as waking up at 2 a.m. to revise. Some would even take the most extreme measures like staying awake the whole night by relying on caffeine drinks such as drinking super concentrated cups of coffee. They are actually trying to read through the whole syllabi in ONE DAY!!!! Now that’s what I would like to call Mission Impossible. Even so, what’s the use even if they really managed to read through the whole syllabi in one day? Do you think that they really can remember what they have read the day before? Of course not! I myself have spent the whole year doing exercises and constant revision in order to understand and embed the whole syllabi into my brain. These students would then come to school and sit for the exam feeling drowsy and sleepy. Their eyes looked so black that I think that they can even register themselves as the new China Olympic panda mascots. Their mind are so exhausted that all they can think of is to tuck themselves on their nice cosy bed with their air-conditioners switched on and venture into their vicarious dreams. How can they even think properly in their half-asleep state? Instead of being night owls, they should sleep early so that they are well rested to sit for the exam. In that way, they will be able to remember at least a part of what they have studied before. Besides, last-minute revision is often ineffective. They should have prepared for the exam moths ago.
They also shouldn’t rely too much on the forecast given by those big prestigious tuition centres because they are not 100% accurate and dependable. Most of these tuition centres such as “Kasturi” and “Martin” forecast the questions in SPM by observing what they claimed as the “pattern” of the exam. These tuition centres would collect the question paper each year and make a statistic analysis from it. Then, they would predict the possible questions based on the questions that have not come out for a long time. Actually, these seminars and forecasts are not reliable because the questions set by the education ministry are random and not based on a constant pattern. These seminars are like scams which the tuition centre use to make a fortune from the desperate students who are taking the exams. This is proven when some questions a few years ago when some of the students at the tuition centre I have been attending sat for SPM too. The seminars they went to forecasted that the questions asked during the previous year surely would not be asked again. To their disappointment, the questions came out again in the exam they sat for. This kind of situation happens every year on students who rely too much on forecast and seminars. This is why our education has become so exam oriented. Many students in our country are actually studying just to pass the exam. They don’t care whether they really understand what they are actually learning as long as they can pass with flying colours in their exam. This also the reason why I have stopped attending tuition classes for most of my subjects except for accounting. I have to continue to learn accounting at the tuition centre because science stream students who want to take additional subjects in the exam will not be taught by the school. They have to learn it own their own. I have realised that attending tuition classes is actually a waste of time when I was sitting for PMR in Form 3. Unlike school, we only attended tuition classes for 2 hours once a week. That means our tutor has to speed up his teaching. For example, he would only tell us the formula to solve the questions in maths without explaining how the formulae are derived and what the uses of the formulae are. Most of my friends would only accept what they were taught without asking anything else. Students in Malaysia nowadays are no longer intrigued to learn for the sake of gaining knowledge. They learn only to get good results in their exam. Therefore, they will only master the subjects that are necessary to pass the exam. Anything more than that would be considered a waste of effort to be learnt. This can be seen in most students. They only read the chapters that are forecasted by the seminars. They will not even bother to look at the chapters which are not mentioned in the seminar. From this situation, we can conclude one fact from it which is the exam nowadays is not sufficient to determine the students’ performance in academics. The reason some students excel in their exam might be due to the fact that the chapters they have predicted came out in the exam. If the questions asked were different from the ones predicted by the seminars, they will surely flunk their exams.
Tuition centres are usually not necessary if one can study at home because the subjects taught at the tuition centre are also taught at school. The tuition centres are actually repeating what that had been taught to the students. What students really need to is to exercises at home to master the subject and ask the teacher at school if they have anything that they don’t understand. There’s no need to waste money and time on something you already knew. If studying alone at home is boring, you can invite your friends to form a study group. I’m sure that would be much more effective. This novel way of studying would certainly be much more fun and exciting.

Good vs Bad
Let’s start with the achievement that I opine is a wise decision which deserves compliment from all of the Malaysians. I’m sure all of the students in Malaysia rejoiced when they heard that starting from next year onwards all the students in Malaysia will not need textbooks anymore as the textbook loan scheme will be made available to all students regardless the amount of income of the family. This is really a wonderful step to improve our education system. This should alleviate the burdens of impoverished students who are unable ineligible to get the textbook loan scheme either because he or she is an immigrant or because the textbook stock is limited. Even so, I’m sure that there also many students who prefer buying their own textbooks if they really use them to do their revision considering the advantages having your own textbooks. When you buy your own textbooks, you can do whatever you want with your textbook. You won’t need to be afraid of sketching it or damaging it as you are not obliged to pay for it if you damaged it or lost it. There are so many thing that you can do to the textbook that you own to help you to improve your revision. For example: you can highlight the keywords in the notes of your textbooks and you can also jot down extra notes during class. I think that one should not be afraid to fork a few hundred ringgits to buy textbooks because they are one of the best and reliable sources of knowledge when compared to other revision books. One should not be thrifty when it comes to knowledge as they are also a type of worthy investment for our future. People who prefer using textbooks to other revision books in the market should have realised that some of the notes in certain revision books are incomplete while some other have additional notes that are not in our syllabus. If you bought the wrong revision book, you will encounter some problems when revising. I’m telling you this because I myself have encountered this problem before. Plus, reading different types of revision books at the same time can also get you confused because their styles are different from one another. Here are some of the books that I regret buying and I strictly recommend other not to buy also. Do not believe in what the publishers usually claim such as “We are the no.1 publisher in the country” or the comments from teachers that are printed on the back of their book because normally they would only choose the compliments out of all the comments by the teachers.
Below are the books that I have blacklisted:
Don't trust the award printed at the front of the page. This book does not deserve the award.
If you want the formulae to solve your maths questions, you can refer to your textbook.
Instead of making it easier for you to understand Biology, this book makes it harder.
Don't believe what they say. These teachers are probably bribed.
After considering all the advantages of having a textbook, I would recommend students to buy their own textbooks if possible unless you really cannot afford to buy them. Since the textbook loan scheme will be made available to all students starting next year, most book stores such as “Popular” have removed their textbooks from their shelves. So, it would be a little difficult to buy textbooks next year.
Now let us proceed to the next agenda. A while ago, I was being more of supportive citizen, now is my turn to be a critic. While everybody is cheering for the launch of our first astronaut into space, I was not happy about it. I don’t criticizing the first launch because the first RM3.42 billion cost of training and transport was sponsored by Russia. I was referring to the plan of second launch of our astronaut into outer space again. I don’t think our country should be involved in any space research or activities yet. May be I would advocate this project after we reached the year 2020 but not now. Keep in mind that our country is still a DEVELOPING COUNTRY and not a DEVELOPED COUNTRY. That RM3.42 billion budget can be used on so many sectors and fields to improve our country, our nation. Does our country really have the capabilities and technology to send our own astronauts to outer space? The answer is obvious! No!!! We don’t even have our own control centre to monitor the development at space. We don’t even have the technology to build a spacecraft. The satellites that our country launched into outer space were built by other countries. Our country still doesn’t have the basic necessities needed to indulge in space exploration. Before we should even think about space exploration, we should first use the public funds wisely to develop the country especially the rural areas in Malaysia such as Sabah, Sarawak, Terengganu and Kelantan. Instead of using the public funds to provide our country with space exploration technology, why don’t we use the money to provide our universities with better infrastructures and facilities? Do you know that our universities rank lower than 300 among all the universities in the world? That means that our universities are inferior to many other universities in the world. How are we supposed to compete internationally in terms of education? That huge sum of money should also be used to increase the salaries of the public servants such as teachers, police officers, etc. I do really pity our teachers. Some of them have so many impressive degrees and diplomas but the wages they receive every month are even less than the salary that my father receive. Some of them have taught for so many years yet their salaries are only around RM2000. The situation aggravates when the government prohibits teachers from working as part-time tutors to earn extra income without permission. The government fears that the teachers will neglect their duty at school if they are too busy with their part-time tutoring. This isn’t the right thing to do. Think about it rationally. How does a teacher with a miniscule salary of RM2000 can cope with highly-cost lifestyle in the city? Everything sold in the market is getting more expensive every year. According to a newspaper report, our living expenditures have gone up by 120% since the 1999. The prices of our basic necessities such as petrol, food, flour, water and electricity have soared so high over the past few years but their income still remains the same. So, the government should raise their salaries instead of preventing them from giving part-time tutoring. In my opinion, our teachers should be given higher salaries because their occupation is a noble job which will shape the fundamental pillars of our nation. Those fundamental pillars are our youths who will determine the future of our country.

The Chinese Dilemma

Now, I’m in a dilemma which I usually don’t have. Not long ago, I accidentally dropped my cellular phone when I was asleep. It happened out of the blue when the alarm of my cellular phone activated. Annoyed by the noise, I accidentally pushed my cellular phone which I put at the table beside my bed, causing it to drop to the ground in the midst of trying to deactivate the alarm. The sound of the crash woke me up and I was shocked at what happened. When I picked it up, it was switched off. I couldn’t switch it back on. Then, I opened the casing of the phone and tried the usual knocking and shaking, hoping that it can be switched back on again. After a few attempts, I can switch it back on again but it was not the same as before. I think the impact damaged the transmitter of my cellular phone because I can't get a full signal bar. Now, I would only get 2 signal bars out of 4 when I am at outdoors. Worst of all, it can’t receive any signal at all when it is indoors. Fortunately, there’s a transmitter dish at the condominium beside my house. So, I would get 2 signal bars at home. Sometimes, the phone would turn off itself when I press a button. I’m in a dilemma of whether to buy a new cellular phone or to repair it. Repairing the phone would probably cost RM50 only but I have also considered the fact that this phone is 5 years old and have been repaired a few times before. Even if I repaired it, it would probably break down again in a few months. So, I was wondering whether or not to buy a new cheap cellular phone which ranges from RM150 to RM200. A cellular phone with a camera would also be convenient. I can make my blog more interesting by putting more photos. Sometimes, I find my blog quite dull too because 90% of my blog are just words. I don’t need fancy phones with GPRS, 3G technology, and web browsers because my main objective of having a cellular phone is for communication purposes. Can you help me to decide? I’ll put up a poll at the bottom of my blog for you to vote.

Jackpot!!!!
Here's the essay that I sent in:
http://wai2403.blogspot.com/2007/07/how-labelling-ensures-safety-and.html
A lovey~dovey story
Even though I know that this puppy love relationship which I have been yearning so much might be vain in the end I still can’t forget about her. Pei Wen is the most beautiful belle in my school and every where she goes there will be guys who wants to get close to her. Whenever I see or hear about guys who are trying to be her boyfriend, I would feel so insecure and afraid. I don’t want to experience the pain I went through last year when Pei Wen start dating a new guy. The pain was so excruciating that my heart feels like it has been stabbed by thousands of knives and squashed by a 100 tonne rock. I cannot bear watching her talking with other guys. Recently, I heard Pei Wen and her friends talking about a guy who is trying to captivate her heart. (I’m not spying on her. I heard them talking because she was sitting beside me.) When the bell rings, as usual I accompanied her to bus. Then, a guy approached her and asked her who I was and she replied I was just a friend. Even though I knew that we were not couples, those words which she uttered pierced my heart like an arrow. The guy then said that he would be sad if I was her BF. At that time, I got afraid that some day se might start dating other guys again. At that night, she signed in on her hotmail. At that night, I finally told her how I felt about her and asked her whether she would be willing to give me any chance if I want to be her boyfriend. I intended to tell her that at school or somewhere we would see each other until I realised that there is no way we would have any privacy. Two days later, she sent me a message via SMS and told me that she is not ready for any relationship. I was not that sad because I have already expected this might happen. Instead, I felt a little relieved because at least I managed to tell her the feelings I have for her which I have always kept it hidden in my heart.
I knew that this was a futile attempt. Even if she did accept me, it probably won’t last long. Do you know why? Here are the reasons. She was selected to participate in the national service. That means I won’t be able to see her for 3 months. I also can’t find any activities that we can spend time together. I tried so many things such as asking her out or forming a study group but it didn’t work. We also have different interest when it comes to academics. She is the type who likes maths and anything that involves calculations such as accounting and physics but she hates subjects that need constant reading and memorising such as history and biology. She is also not that good in linguistic subjects such as Malay and English. Ironically, I am bad in subjects that involve calculations. When I say I’m bad, I don’t mean that I always fail my maths. I mean I always have silly mistakes when solving a maths problem. I call myself the King of Silly Mistakes. I’m so careless when doing maths that my maths teacher, Mrs Tan said that she would shave off my eyebrows if I continue to do anymore silly mistakes. (She meant that as a joke of course.) I excel better in linguistic subjects and subjects that need reading such as history and biology. Haha, we are the total opposites. I can’t find anything common between us to start a conversation. Normally, I would talk about the current affairs which I read in the newspaper or topics related to computers with my friends but she is not interested in any of that.
As SPM draws near, I also thought about my future career. Even though I'm in Science Stream, I'm not interested to become a wage earner. Many people in Science stream would aspire to become an engineer or a doctor when they graduate. However, I think that it is not wise to choose such careers if you intend to work in Malaysia. I certainly don't want to study at the university for more than 5 years and spend thousands of ringgit just to graduate and work as an engineer with a beginning salary of RM2000. After struggling hard for several years, my wage finally increased to RM3000. If I choose medicine, I would need to study for 8 years in the university. Then, I would need to serve my housemanship for 1 years before qualifying as a doctor. That means I would only start working at the age of 31 years old. It would take me at least 3 years to finish paying my debt and a at least 5 more years before I can buy my own car, house and marry the woman I love. So, I think I might take up Child Psychology and venture into careers that involve children since I am a part time tutor now. Such careers may be promising according to my tutor. Every parent in the world care so much about their children that they are willing to spend money so that they would grow up as a better person in life. Even a slight fever would make the parents jittery and panic. Some parents who pamper their children so much that they would buy anything that they like. Money is no longer a predicament that they have to worry about as long as their children are happy. I have seen a lot of this kind of parents. Some of my students get RM200 a month. Some even change their school bags at least 3 times a year. Another type of parent is the paranoid ones. They worry so much about their children’s education that they would sent them to tuition classes everyday. Their children are so busy going to tuition that they won’t have anytime to watch television or play. These children would then either grow up as a passive and sombre person or a mischievous monkey that hates school. These kind of students are the ones who would normally give me plenty of headaches and stress. Asking them to do some exercises is like telling them to jump into a pond filled with meat-craving crocodiles. They felt so frustrated with their hectic and stressful life that they would become bored of learning. Have you heard of the proverb, “All work but no play makes Jack a dull boy”? This is the same situation. Such parents would rather starve to pay for such expenditures. Well, business is a selfish career unless you open a charity company.
Since Pei Wen like maths so much, she should have entered account stream instead of science stream. Accountancy is a great option. According to a report I saw in the newspaper, our country will face a shortage of accountants in the future as most of our accountants choose to work at Singapore or China which offer better wages. A professional accountant can earn more than RM10000 a month. She might even earn more money than I do in the future. Who knows. However, every good thing in life must come with a price. As you know, an accountant is responsible for managing and recording the income and the expenditures of a company which in the end will affect the net profit or loss made by the company. Therefore, the burden would be really stressful. I heard from my accountancy tutor that some even need to work until midnight and spend the night at the company just to finish her work. He said that you are not allowed to leave until you have finished your work if the company needs the accounts prepared by tomorrow. This is the same if you make an error when preparing your accounts. Well, I shouldn’t be condemning accountancy so much because I think there’s not a single job in this world which is easy and lucrative. Even robbing a bank is a very stressful and risky job.
Ok, let’s get back to the main topic. What I meant was we would have so many differences that I have started to give up hope. I know that this relationship which I am hoping for might be futile. The moral of this story is do not expect too much in the things you want and do not make promises or conclusions on a whim as things might not turn out as well as we expect in the future. I’m not the only one who has problems with romance. Still remember the genius I always mentioned, Liew Hui? He is also frustrated because of his crush he has on a girl in my class, Ai Teng. Even my good friend, Chit Bin also has one too. I don’t want to talk too much about their problem as these stuffs are private and I should respect them.

Another threat by the Al-Qaeda Clan
After reading this article, I have realised why many people in the western countries have conceive an image of Islam and Muslims as violent and savage. The cause does not come from the religion but it is because of radical people who tarnish the image of Islam. Any religion in the world teaches their worshipers to do good deeds and be virtuous. However, there are some radical Muslims which seemed they might not understand the religion very well themselves. Instead of being forgiving and focusing on peace and harmony, they seem to be more concentrating on the pride of their religion and their dominance over other religions in this world. This is also the same for the famous terrorist, Osama bin Laden who have recently come out from hiding. In his recent video which he sent to the U.S, he said that the only way to stop the war now is that all Americans embrace Islam. This makes us wonder whether or not they will plan another terrorist attack which cost the lost of thousands of lives just like the melancholic incident of September 11 when the World Trade Centre crumbled when a suicidal plan crashed into it, massacring thousands of innocent people. The people that did this do not deserve to call themselves humans. They are beasts, worse than animals, the same as the devils!!! They are willing to do whatever it takes in order to protect the pride of their religion and spread them to all over the world even if it means killing innocent people and ruining the lives of others.
Regarding the article I mentioned earlier, they are willing to jeopardise their economy by attacking the innocent giant companies that are a part of the source of wealth in their country, without considering the impact of the lives of the thousands of people whose life and family depend on the wage given by those companies. They are also willing to fork out a hefty amount of money in order to kill the cartoonist. Looking at the situation in Iraq now, that money would very helpful if it is used to alleviate and revamping the conditions in Iraq after the war which have left many people homeless. They should use the money to help the poor not organizing a hunting contest. Even so, they are willing to use the money to kill the cartoonist. I was disappointed at how they handled the problem. They are willing to fight and kill just because of a drawing. I acknowledge that what the Swedish cartoonist did was wrong but the way they reacted towards his action is also wrong. By doing that, they are actually encouraging killing and fighting to solve a problem. If they felt insulted, they can demand an apology from the cartoonist. Why organise a manhunt for him? I thought Muslims are supposed to be forgiving.
After so many wars in the past and the millions of people who died due to them, we have learnt that we must never let that dreadful war repeat itself again. That’s why the United Nations and the Association of the South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN) were formed. Whenever there are conflicts, the countries will send their representatives to discuss about the matter in a meeting in order to find a compromise that will settle the problem without starting a war. This is what happened when North Korea and Iran wanted to develop nuclear technologies. Fearing that a nuclear war might erupt, the United Nations have offered many economic aids such as oil and money in order to persuade both of the countries to stop developing nuclear technologies. Instead of invading both of the countries and taking over the government, the United Nations have implemented sanctions and trade embargos to stop their nuclear development.
Subsequently, I am also proud of Malaysia. Whenever there are any conflicts arouse between Malaysia and other nations, Malaysia have always chose the peaceful solutions and political discussions to resolve the problem. Many think that Malaysia is actually afraid of other big countries because we are inferior to other nations in terms of military power and our economy is dependent on those nations too. In my opinion, Malaysia made the right choice of promoting peace and harmony with other nations. Those who criticise Malaysia for the reasons mentioned just now should be ashamed of themselves because they are just like the Al-Qaeda clan. There are many kinds of people in this world with different kinds of religions, languages, races and cultures. We should try to live together by accepting the differences and respecting them instead of insisting that others must follow ours just like the Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi and Osama bin Laden who insist everyone must not embrace other religions other than Islam. They should learn from Malaysia! Malaysia Boleh!!!

Another Conspiracy Unveiled
Sets of screwdrivers =RM40..... RM229.94
17 sets of technical books =RM417..... RM10700
comprising of 10 titles
2-tonne carjacks= RM50..... RM5741
650 sets of plastic vases =RM5.20..... RM42.80
A 3.1 megapixel digital =Not stated..... RM8254
camera
legend: green=market price (per set).......red=contract price (per set)
LOOK AND COMPARE THE PRICES!!! Some of the items purchased were bought at the price of 10 TIMES higher than the market price!!! WHAT KIND OF @#$&%* TECHNICAL BOOK WILL COST RM10700 PER SET!!! PLASTIC VASES FOR RM42.80??? A CARJACK COSTING RM5741??? AND WHAT KIND OF HYPER ADVANCE SUPER DIGITAL CAMERA THAT COST RM8254!!!! IS IT THE ONE BUILT FOR NASA TO CAPTURE PICTURES OF OUTER SPACE??? ARE THE BOOKS MADE USING SHEETS OF GOLD AS PAPER??? IF NOT, HOW COME THEY ARE SO DAMN EXPENSIVE!!! Now, I’m just wondering who the culprit responsible for signing those contracts is. Apparently, there weren’t any minutes prepared during the negotiation meeting and signing of the contracts. Initially, the money allocated for the project was RM399.67 million but later ballooned to RM767.98 million after two appeals for additional fund allocation were made with the excuse of preparing for a bigger student population. There are 13 type of items altogether which not all were listed in the article. For the 13 items, the government has paid RM8.39 million more than the market price at that time. Think of how many people can benefit from the millions of ringgits if the money is properly allocated for development and aiding the citizens! Think of how many poor people at the outskirts of the cities that can lead a better life if the money is allocated for them to build better houses and start small business!
The government has always been giving the excuses that there were not enough funds to raise the wages of public servants. The reason is because of the corrupted officials in the ministry. Bear in mind that this is not the only business among that involves corruption and money laundering. If just buying items such as in this case need an additional fund of more that RM200 million, think of the other expenditures such as fuel allowances, building infrastructures, upgrading government and public amenities, etc. It would amount to billions of ringgits each year!!! If that money has been properly used, our country would be on par with many developed countries such as Singapore by now. Poverty among Malaysian would be an issue of the past by now. Public servants such as teachers and police force would not be underpaid. Indirectly, this would improve the education and security of the nation. Teachers could concentrate on their duties in the school instead of rushing to tuition centre to give additional tuition classes for extra income. Bribery among low ranked constables in the police force would be reduced as they are well paid for their service. Clipping a badge stating “I’m anti-corruption” (Saya anti-rasuah) is ridiculous as that won’t deter them from accepting bribes. I’m also wondering whether or not corruption and bribery also occurs in our Anti Corruption Association (ACA). Some of the conspiracy cases that have been settled lately made me sceptical on how these agencies did their investigations. For example, the news on how the 39 charges made against Zakaria has suddenly been dropped. When asked by reporters regarding the matter, he replied that the reason is because all the outstanding problems have been settled. However, there is one more question lingering in my mind. How did the outstanding problems which he claimed got settled and in what way?
Besides that, you would be shocked if you have read the past of Zakaria. Initially, he was just a low profile person. I can’t remember what he worked as. I think he was an office boy or a security guard. Then, suddenly he became a member of the municipal council. Then, he got into the police force with a high rank. At that time, there were allegations of corruption made against him involving a few millions ringgits if I’m not mistaken. However, the allegations suddenly disappeared from the mass media and were forgotten after a while. Then, he was elected as the assemblyman at Port Klang. Even with his position, he can afford to build a mansion worth more than RM1 million in a village. However, there were no allegations or investigations on corruption made against him. He was just charged with the offence of not obtaining a permit to build that mansion. I think that due to the fact that there were few news regarding corrupted officials were punished for their crime, the people are starting to think that bribery and corruptions isn’t such a big deal in our country. They are starting to think that they can escape from any predicaments as long as they have money.
May be we need to be a little more stringent and harsh when it comes to corruption. The government need to show that they are serious when it comes to corruption just like what is happening in China now. We should show what will happen to people who are involved in corruption to serve as a warning so that others will be afraid of committing such a crime in the future. We are considered quite reasonable and lenient when dealing with corruption compared to China. From what I know, the properties of the offcials who are found guilty of corruption will all be confiscated as they are considered "haram" because they are bought using sinful money. However, I rarely read or heard any news on any officials convicted for corruption and their properties being confiscated. It is as though our country is so pure and holy that all the officials are honest but yet we ranked among the lowest when it comes to the world corruption ranking system. We often hear our leaders and ministers telling the officials to be honest all the time and warn them that any crime involving corruption will be dealt with severely but I don't see anyone being prosecuted as what they claimed yet. In China, officials who are found guilty of corruption will be sentenced to death. In fact, China even built an online game which is used to set the mindset of the youngsters so that they would not indulge in corruption. The online game requires players to kill corrupted officials while avoiding attacks from their henchmen and their bikini-clad mistresses. The online game was so popular that the server for the online game overloaded and have to be temporarily shut down to be upgraded.

A Weird Dream
My dream started off with me attending school as usual in the morning. However, the school period was very long. In fact, it lasted for a whole day. I remembered that I was attending Biology class at around 8 o’clock at night with al of my classmates. I didn’t feel weird at all. I felt that it was as though school period has always been this long. The dream felt so real!!! However, attending school for this long is still too much for us. Puan Malika, our add.maths teacher entered our class at 1.00 am in the morning. At that time, all of us can’t stand it anymore and we started bragging the Pn Malika to let us go home. Just as we wanted to go home, Liew Hui and Kah Meng decided to jump from the window because they said it is a shorter route than taking the staircase. (Our class is only on the 1st floor) After jumping from the window to get down, all of us felt hungry as we haven’t eaten our dinner. So, we scurried around the town in Taman Kosas to find a restaurant or a stall to dine at. It was around 1.30am. However, the sun has risen as though as it is 9am in the morning. May be, it’s because that I imagined that 1.30am is also considered as morning that caused me to dreamt of such a weird surrounding. Even though at that time the sun was shining bright, there were no stalls opened during that time. Why is that? It’s because it’s 1.30am!!! Who would ever open a stall at that time!!! Everyone is snoring at their beds. However, hunger does not permit us to stop searching for food. Finally we found some food stalls which sells weird food too. I remembered that I bought a bowl of mee, low shi fan with chicken chop. There were also other foods such as Yong Tao Foo and much more. After eating, we went back to the school where we spent the night at there. There was a room which resembled much like my room which I stayed at. I surfed the internet before going to sleep. After I dreamt that I went to sleep, I woke up in reality. When I woke up, I was totally confused. My head was so blank and confused. I can’t differentiate which is reality and dream anymore because my dream felt so real. I have no mood at all to study for my Physic paper 3. However, I felt better after I had taken my dinner with my family.

How Labelling Ensures Safety and Performance of Products and Services
When it comes to products and services, there is a standard implemented by the law which states labels regarding certain information about the products and the company which manufactured it must be imprinted on the products. This is compulsory in order to protect our rights as consumers, and ensure our safety and health. The common information that we can procure at the label of food products are ingredients, nutritional value, production venue, hotline number for customer service and halal status. By stating important information such as the ingredients and nutritional value on the container of the food product, consumers can judge whether the food products are good for health and safe to consume or vice versa. Health conscious consumers can avoid food products such as fruit juices which contained excessive colouring, flavouring and preservative to make the food more appetizing and delicious, and have a longer shelf life. Besides that, the expiry date of food products must also be labelled to ensure the safety and health of the consumers. Eating foods that are expired can cause an ordeal of health problems such as diarrhoea, vomiting and nausea because of food poisoning. In Islamic countries such as Malaysia, it is important to label the halal status of the food products sold to protect the Muslims from eating food that are prepared from pork and other non-halal ingredients.
The hotline number and address that is usually imprinted at the labels of products or brochures can be very convenient for consumers. When a consumer wished to lodge a complaint or have any enquiries regarding a product, he or she can call the company’s customer service via the hotline number or send a letter to the company via the address imprinted at the product or brochure received. One can also place an order of a product by sending a letter to the manufacturing company that has delivery services. Company that offers services such as restaurants, clinics and beauty treatment centres can simply revamp their services by labelling their telephone numbers for consumers to make reservations or appointments at their brochures or shops. This is convenient for consumers who have a hectic schedule to abide by and do not like to wait long to be served. With a telephone call, one can choose the time of his or her reservation or an appointment at his convenient.
One of the criteria which shop owners are obliged to adhere is labelling the price of their products when selling them. This is needed so that customers can know how much money they need to fork out for the product. With the price labelled, customers would then be able to compare the price with the products sold at other shops and ponder properly before buying them. Shop owners cannot expect the customers to assume that the products are being sold at a reasonable price and would buy it. Beside that, labelling a standardised price on the products before selling them to retail out would also prevent any greedy shop owners from increasing the price at their will.
As for service provider companies such as the water supply company, an early statement is usually sent to the affected consumers before they cut their supplies to the consumers due to unpaid bills or regular maintenance to upgrade the plumbing systems to ensure the best quality of water is supplied to the consumers. This will enable the affected consumers to take necessary actions such as storing sufficient water to prepare them to face the imminent disruption in the water supply. Even the a few hours of disruption in the water supply can cause many predicaments towards consumers who are unprepared or not notified. Consumers especially those own restaurants will have problems when preparing meals and drinks, cleaning and bathing. Not doing so and cutting their water supply abruptly would create a furore among the affected consumers. This is also the same for companies like banks and electric supply companies. Warning statements will also be sent to consumers who haven’t paid their bills even though the deadline is near to remind them of doing so before cutting their power supply or taking legal actions towards errant consumers.
The performance of staffs can also be improved my labelling items and documents used in work place according to their size, functions, colour, usage and so forth. Apart from that, labelling products and items which are being sold is important too. By doing so, consumers and staffs can get what they want easily without having to forage for them in piles of different items and products which are arranged together. This would save time. Products such as shoes, sport accessories and garments are classified into different shapes, sizes and colours to suit the need of every different prospective buyer. They are then labelled and group together according to their labels to prevent confusion when any prospective buyers wished to buy them. Take a shoe shop for example. Customers just need to order the size they want the type of things they want without having to ransack the shop and trying each pairs of shoes which fit their feet, and their needs. If the shoes are not labelled systematically, they will have a hard time when buying the pair of shoes they want as shoes are classified into many types, sizes and colours.
Every business owner must also ensure the safety and satisfaction of the consumers who use his or her products just as how they put great effort to grow their profits. Ensuring the safety and satisfaction of their workers and customers is an indirect way of growing their profits too because when the consumers are know what benefits and side effects the products will provide and how to use them properly, they will certainly buy them again in future. One of the ways to do so is by labelling the proper way of usage as well as stating the benefits and side effects it will have towards the consumers. This is vital especially medical products that involves chemicals and drugs that might bring harm to the body or will not show any significant effects if is not applied or consumed properly. Delicate products such as garments made from silk or any expensive fabric must be labelled with the proper way of washing them to prevent them from being damaged. In Malaysia, hazardous products such as electrical appliances must also be labelled with the ‘Sirim’ approval logo to ensure that they have passed the safety test and are safe to be used. Electrical appliances such as computers, televisions and air- conditioners must also be labelled with the safety procedure regarding the correct way to handle and assemble them to avoid any unwanted mishaps which might result in the consumer being electrocuted or damaging the product.
Not all of the products sold in the market are safe to consume or used without any safety equipment. Some of the food products are not suitable for children. Some of the products contain toxic substances. Therefore, it is compulsory for manufacturers to label their products to indicate whether the product is suitable and safe for all ages or vice versa. Food products such as sweetened creamer are actually not suitable for babies as it contains a amount of sugar. Some parents are not aware of this because they are mislead by the fact that sweetened creamer is also made from dairy products. Toys such as plasticine and some medicine in the form of creams are toxic and are meant for external uses only. These products may be hazardous if they are consumed. Besides that, they are toys which are manufactured in small sizes so they looked cute. However, inquisitive babies and toddlers may put them in their mouth and accidentally choke them if they do so. Therefore, certain products such as these are only suitable for people of certain age and must be labelled so that parents and other consumers can know which product is suitable to buy and how they should be used.
The importance of marks, statements and labels were galore in our life. Sometimes we did not notice that even some statements that we consider as trivial can play a great role in improving the performance of services. For example: placing a statement indicating that one of the payment counter in a supermarket is closed or placing a labelling the ethics of a worker in a work place to motivate them to perform better, and remind them of their responsibilities and duties. Shop owners would also usually place a statement in front of their shops a few days earlier to let the public know that they would be closed for holiday for a period. This is important so that there won’t be any customers visiting their shops when it is closed.
As a conclusion, labelling plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and performance of products and services. Labelling should be enforced by the law to protect the safety and rights of consumers. As consumers, we always depend on the labels and statements that are given to procure important information before purchasing a product or using a service. We also need statements to help us act and prepare for any imminent incidents in the future such as a disruption in the water electric supply. Consequently, we as consumers cannot deny the importance of labelling and we should always try to revamp the labelling system to ensure our quality of life.

Kids & Exams
Fish in the sea,
How you passed add maths,
Is a mystery to me!
Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
I copied your paper,
And I flunked mine too.
My teacher loves me,
Thinks I’m dear,
She’s kept me for,
The Fourth straight year.
History’s a dead subject that’s,
As dead as it can be,
Once it killed the Romans,
And now it’s killing me.
When I die, bury me deep,
Burn my History book at my feet,
Tell the teacher I’ve gone to rest,
And won’t be back for the History test.
Now I lay me down to rest,
I pray to pass tomorrow’s test,
If I should die before I wake,
That’s one less test I’ll have to take.
Don’t worry if your grades are low,
And your rewards are few,
Remember that the mighty oak,
Was once a nut like you.
This is a poem which I got from school. It's from a joke book written by Singaporeans. I altered it a little to suit the rythms and our culture. I'm sure that most of you will agree with some of the content. If you do, post a comment about how you feel about this poem.

Anyway, don't take this poem seriusly and get offended if you are those type of serius bookworms like my friend 'L.H'. It's just a hilarious joke for students. It got my teachers and me laughing too.

An Obnoxious Discrimation

In this post, I am not going to write anything about my life but I would like to rebuke on a recent claim by the Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi on Islam and all the other existing religions in the world. He brazenly claimed that Islam is the only universal religion; adding that it was a mistake to believe that Christianity is the universal religion alongside Islam. He said that all Africans, Asians, Europe and Americans have nothing to do with Christianity except Israelis; making that claim as though as Islam is the only true religion which we must indulge ourselves in while portraying other religions as deviant and false. What infuriates me is that he proclaimed that all those who do not follow the Islamic teachings are losers as Islam is the only true religion in the world. This is a preposterous claim as he has no right to say that Islam is the only religion which everyone must follow. Everyone has their right to believe in their own religion as long as their religion encourage them to instil great virtue and do good deeds in their life. There is no evidence to prove which religion is true and their God truly exists and created this world as these religions were formed a long time ago and their only proof of their existence are by words from people and transcripts in religious books. I as a Buddhist believe that there are no Gods in this world and the only way we can free ourselves from sufferings is to achieve the state of Nirvana. Most of my relatives believe that there are Gods and Goddesses which bless our life and control our fates. They also believe in demons, ghosts and the hereafter. However, I have little belief in such things as I only believe in what I can see. I don’t believe in superstitions such as feng shui and all those ritual ceremonies to bring good luck. In my opinion, most of the religious beliefs and superstitions originate from animism whereby people in ancient times have little understanding in the natural phenomena such as storms, volcanic eruption and droughts, hence causing them to believe that there are supernatural forces behind all those phenomena. Now, most people harbour strong beliefs in Gods because they want to have something they could depend on which provides hopes when they encounter problems. It also acts as guidance for them to be virtuous and do good deeds in life, and prevent themselves from doing anything which are wrong and could hurt others. A person does not need to be guided by a religion to do good deeds if he truly cares for others and loves every living thing in this world. What Gaddafi said in his recent statement was nothing but religious discrimination and baseless which is akin to what Pope Benedict has said recently on the mass media which only differs in the type of religion they are advocating. Earlier, the latter said that a society without Christian conscience will lose their directions in life, and ends up empty and bankrupt. I don’t think this statement is true as I have saw and met many people are successful in life and yet they are not Christians or other religion believers. I have also seen people who are religion believers, yet they are the scumbags in the society. Both of them should retract their statements and apologize to the public. If they still insist on thinking that way, they would end up provoking the public and creating havoc and polemic all over the world especially Gaddafi who also refuted the history of christianity by saying it is wrong to believe that Jesus had been crucified and killed because another man resembling Jesus was crucified in his place, and all those who are not followers of the Islamic teachings are losers. If that obnoxious toad had made these statements in front of the public in a country where other religions reign over the place, he will surely be beaten to death before he could iterate another outrageous statement. He is not suited at all to be a leader. By making such a statement in front of the media, he risks compromising the international ties between Libyan and other countries. This could jeopardise business opportunities and the tourism industry. A leader should be more open-minded and has a wide perspective; placing the aim to improve the country ahead of his own senseless pride.
